IRISHMUSICLEGEND and
Historian Ken O'Malley will
headline the Bloomsday
Celebration at Clancy's in Long
Beach. The 3rd Annual Event
celebrates the James Joyce
novel, Ulysses, with readings,
performance and music.
Bloomsday is a commemo-
ration observed annually on
June 16 in Dublin, Ireland and
around the world to celebrate
the life of Irish writer James
Joyce and relive the events in
his novel Ulysses, all of which
took place on the same day in
Dublin in 1904. Bloomsday
involves a range of cultural
activities including Ulysses
readings and dramatizations,
parades, and general merri-
ment. Enthusiasts are encour-
aged to dress in Edwardian cos-
tume and bring personal copies
of Joyce's books to read their
favorite passages from.
Ken O'Malley and the
Twighlight Lords will headline
the evening's musical enter-
tainment.
Bloomsday is on Tuesday
June 16, 2009 from 6pm-12am
at Clancy's Irish Pub. Ken
O'Malley performs from 9-
11pm; Joycean readings,
dramatizations will be ongoing
throughout the celebration.
Traditional Irish breakfast of
sausages, rashers, toast, beans,
and black and white puddings
will be available beginning at
8am.
The event will help benefit
the Blind Children's Center of
Los Angeles, a family-centered
agency serving children with
visual impairments.
